Can you believe that a successful blog can provide enough money for you and your family?
Well, you should, as most of the money I make comes either directly or indirectly from blogging.
Now, I’m still a small fish in the pond but there are individual bloggers making millions (yes MILLIONS) thanks to their posts, which is just unbelievable. Also, the great thing about it is that if you set up everything correctly there are no clients calling, bosses yelling and making money doesn’t seem like work at all (at least to me).
I first started this activity as a young civil engineer trying to promote his services and escape the 9 to 5 experience, as I just couldn’t stand it. My firm kicked off pretty well and I still acquire most of my clients through blogging.
Amazingly, everything worked out pretty well even if I had no previous experience, nor great writing abilities. After all, I just write about building regulations and give design tips and pieces of advice as if I was talking to the guy next door. My job can be quite complicated at times but that blog really isn’t.
So, seeing the true potential of blogging I soon started other side projects and planetbow.com is one of them. I’m learning archery and so sharing info on what I’m picking up for myself is quite easy. I truly want to become better at the game and if I can help other archers, all the better. So, making money this way doesn’t feel like work at all even if it’s only a few hundred bucks a month (whatever I make goes to my kids anyway so I have nothing to worry about).
How does this blog make money
In particular, this blog relies on affiliate marketing to make money. I write my blog post with the intent of answering questions that beginner archers have, as I truly want to be helpful, to me as well. In fact, I’m just sharing things as I learn them.
However, I will sometimes happen to mention products that we all have to buy in order to play this great game. When I do I’ll just include a link to Amazon or other merchants that provide affiliate commissions on their sales. If you happen to buy the product I earn some money as a percentage of the retail price. This is very cool as I would recommend the products anyway but ultimately gives me a way to support my writing.
